School-Age Recreational Gymnastics

First cartwheel or fifth year of gymnastics, this floor meets your kid where they are.

From five-year-olds trying gymnastics for the first time to twelve-year-olds working toward advanced skills, every level below builds on the last through our Colours of the Rainbow curriculum. Not sure which one fits? Start with age and experience — the details are in each dropdown.

  • Our Budding Blossoms classes are a transitional program designed to support children as they prepare for Kindergarten and school-aged programs. This is the first level where athletes begin working through a coloured badge in our Rainbow Gymnastics Curriculum, starting with White; the foundation level that introduces skill progression and graduation through future colours.

  • This class is our beginner class for any child aged 6-12years old who has never done Gymnastics before or has had one or two sessions of experience!

    In this class, your child will progress through the Pink, Orange and Yellow Colours of the Rainbow Gymnastics Curriculum whilst working on skills that will help them build towards the more difficult colours.

    Your child will begin to learn the basic movements including completing forward rolls, cartwheel, handstands, swinging on bars and jumps, turns and kicks on beam.

  • This class is our intermediate class, for children aged 7-12yrs. If your child has completed a year of gymnastics previously (or a similar program), this is likely the best class for them.

    In this class, your child will progress through Green, Blue and Purple Colours to complete the Rainbow Gymnastics Curriculum whilst working on skills that will help them build towards the more difficult colours.

    To register in this class, your child should be able to SAFELY and CORRECTLY complete the following (i.e: they have completed them in a ‘professional’ setting with an instructor):

    • Beam: Jumping on the beam, jumping off the beam, kicks

    • Floor: Cartwheel, forward and backward roll, bridge kick over and be working towards handstands

    • Bars: Casts and swings

    *Please note: If you register your child in this class and the instructor deems they are not quite at this level, they will be asked to move to the Low Clouds class and complete at least one previous colour.

  • This class is our Advanced class, for children aged 9+yrs. If your child has completed over a year of gymnastics previously, this is likely the best class for them. For the most part, this is a by invitation program, if you are unsure whether this is the right class, please have a chat with our instructor, or register in our Middle Clouds program and we can move your child if/when necessary.

    In this class, your child will progress through the final colours of the Rainbow Gymnastics Curriculum - Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Colours. It may take several sessions for your child to successfully complete these levels.

    To register in this class, in addition to the skills listed in Middle Clouds, your child must be able to SAFELY and CORRECTLY complete the following (i.e: they have completed them in a ‘professional’ setting with an instructor).

    • Beam: Handstand on beam, connected straight jumps on the beam,

    • Floor: Backhandspring, full handstand on floor, turns and jump turns

    • Bars: Climb-on and catch the high bar, Back-hip circle, Toe shoot, Glide Swings

    *Please note: If you register your child in this class and the instructor deems they are not quite at this level, they will be asked to move to a different class and complete atleast one previous colour.
